Can plant roots access protein?

we all know that plants takes solar energy and CO2 from the air and build protein (cellular structure), but can plant roots access protein directly?

One example is Venus Fly trap,  but it only obtains three quarters of their nitrogen supply from insect prey, and still does not directly absorb protein as a energy source or as a building block.
